"The Large-scale Sports Stadium-level Steel Membrane Structure Building" is a flagship steel membrane structure project designed for large-scale sports events, cultural and entertainment performances, and urban landmarks. The building is inspired by "waves rolling" or "mountain ranges rising", and through the innovative application of large-span steel membrane structures, it integrates the natural rhythm with engineering aesthetics. It not only meets the functional requirements of professional sports venues but also, with its highly recognizable appearance, becomes the visual focus of the area, suitable for various sites such as mountains, coastal areas, and urban core zones.
II. Design HighlightsNatural Biomimicry · Rhythmic Aesthetics:
The roof adopts continuous wave-like / layered membrane structure units, resembling the surging of waves or the stacking of mountains, creating a connection with the surrounding landscape environment; the facade is enhanced with repetitive arch-shaped / folded plate steel structure textures, intensifying the rhythmic feeling. From an aerial perspective, it looks like a "land art installation", while from the ground level, it seems like a "stilled musical score".
Large-span column-free space:
Relying on the mechanical advantages of the steel membrane structure, the roof achieves an over 100-meter-long column-free large-span, capable of accommodating the needs of tens of thousands of people for events such as watching, performing, or gathering. The space is spacious and unobstructed, providing ultimate protection for event organization, stage setup, and audience viewing.
Light and Ecology Integration:
The semi-transparent property of the membrane material combined with the structural gaps allows natural light to gently penetrate the interior, reducing daytime lighting energy consumption. The architectural outline forms a "borrowed scenery" effect with the mountains and the sky. At night, through the intelligent lighting system, it can present a stunning visual of "luminous mountains and sea", becoming a landmark of the city's night economy.
III. Core Structure and MaterialsMain Frame:
Utilizes Q390/Q460 high-strength low-alloy steel. Through BIM parametric design and finite element analysis, the steel structure's load-bearing system is optimized to ensure stability under extreme conditions such as typhoons and earthquakes; the joints are connected with cast steel and high-strength bolts, balancing strength and construction efficiency.
Covering material:
Selected PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) membrane material:
Auxiliary System:
Equipped with an intelligent drainage system (membrane surface water drainage + downspout), a wind-resistant membrane reinforcement system (to withstand strong wind loads), and a fireproof insulation layer (the membrane material is internally equipped with fire-resistant core material, with a fire resistance limit of ≥ 1.5 hours).
IV. Functional ApplicationsProfessional Sports Venues:
Capable of hosting international events such as football, track and field, and rugby, meeting the standards of FIFA and IAAF; equipped with an athlete rest area, media center, VIP booths, and supporting electronic scoreboard, audio and lighting systems.
Cultural Tourism and Entertainment Complex:
Converted into a large-scale live performance venue, it utilizes the large-span space to build a 360° rotating stage and a movable viewing platform. Combined with AR/VR technology, it creates an immersive entertainment show, becoming a traffic engine for "cultural tourism + sports".
Urban Vitality Landmark:
As the core building of the city square, it hosts various events such as concerts, exhibitions and markets, stimulates the surrounding commercial activities, hotels and transportation facilities, and promotes the economic development of the area.
